On 8th February 2020, a team of Avion Aerospace group Bangladesh visited Thakurgaon Airport (IATA: TKR, ICAO: VGSG) for possible reconstruction and opportunities for the northern part of Bangladesh.
Thakurgaon Airport established in 1940 on 550 acres area. It was a public and military used STOL airport located near Shibganj of Thakurgaon, Bangladesh.
This airstrip was heavily damaged by Indian Air Force during Indo-Pak War in 1965. Then it was used as a domestic airport. After that, lack of interest and a decreasing number of passengers, the airport went out of operation and abandoned since 1980.
Now Thakurgaon has an economic possibility and opportunities, a team of Avion Aerospace is working to find out the possible opportunities to re-open the operation with positive feedback by the Government of the Republic of Bangladesh.
